Modifying a style in Advanced mode

A style can contain one or more parts. You can change the appearance of style parts by using Style Selector.

The style details in the lowermost area of the Style Selector window can be in either of the following modes:
  • Simple
  • Advanced

To modify a style in Advanced mode

  1. Select the style that you want to modify.
  2. Click More.

The details of the style are displayed.

  3. If in the lowermost area of the window, click Advanced.

Notice that after you click, the button label changes to Simple.

  4. In the Parts list, select the part that you want to modify.

On the toolbar to the right of the box, you can click Cut, Copy, or Paste to cut, copy, and paste style elements. You can also click Add or Remove to add or remove parts.

  5. Under Definition, type or select a priority level for the part in the Priority box.

The priority indicates how to layer various components of vector drawings. The higher priority values are drawn over those with lower priorities. This applies among various parts in a given representation, but also applies among various shapes drawn in a given layer and, in some applications, is evaluated among all vector layers in a given view.

  6. In the Primitive list, select a value to define the graphical primitive of the shape.
  7. In the table, type or select a value for each parameter of the shape.

The parameters you can modify vary according to the selected primitive, as follows:

    • Lines: Width, End Style, Join Style, Color, Distance from Axis, Angle, Dash Length, Dash Step, Dash Space, Dot Diameter, Dot Offset, Dot Step
    • Polygons: Color, Opacity, Scale, Pattern Symbol ID, Scaling, and Spacing
    • Text: Color, Size, Font, Alignment
