Understanding fiducial marks

Fiducial marks are small crosses or small V-shaped indents located precisely on each of the four corners or exactly midway along the four sides of a scanned-film photograph. After you identify the fiducial marks in your scanned image, they are used with the fiducial marks entered from the camera calibration report to establish an image coordinate frame. The fiducial mark coordinates are a compulsory parameter for scanned-film photographs. Images taken with digital cameras do not contain fiducial marks.
