Automatically selecting points

By using the automatic point-selection tool you can quickly select the number of points with the highest residual values. If necessary, you can restrict the percentage of points that can be selected per image and the lowest value of the RMS of the points to include in the selection. You can also quickly remove points with high residual values to improve the math-model solution. The restriction ensures only a certain percentage of points are selected for deletion per image. Images and points with acceptable RMS will not be deleted.

To automatically select points

  1. Under Show Points, do one of the following:
    • To select all the points collected, click All.
    • To select only the GCPs and the independent CPs, click GCPs/check pts.
    • To select only the TPs, click Tie points.
  2. Under Show In, do one of the following:
    • To select points in all of the images in the project, click All images.
    • To select only points in a specific image, Image ID column of the table, click the image you want, and then under Show in,click Selected image.
Tip: You can also type the ID of the image in the Selected image ID box (below the table), and then press Enter.
  3. Under Sort By, do one of the following:
    • To select points with the highest residual values, click Residual.
    • To select points with the highest data-snooping residual, click Data snooping.
  4. Under Automatic Point Selection, do the following:
    • In the Points by residual box, type or select the number of points with the highest RMS error to select.

The default value is 5, which represents five percent of the total number of selectable points.

    • In the Maximum percent of points/image box, type or select a number representing the maximum percentage of points that can be selected per image.
    • In the Lowest selectable residual box, type or select the lowest value of the RMS for points to select.
    • Click Select.
You can view a summary of all of the selected points in the selection report. For more information on this report, see About the Selected Points Report window.
