Importing a file to PCIDSK format

By using the Import command, you can convert any GDB-supported format to PCIDSK format. When the input data is not supported by GDB, you must define the raw data.

To import a file to PCIDSK format

  1. On the File menu, click Import to PCIDSK.

    The PCIDSK Import window appears.

  2. Beside Source file, click Browse.

    The File Selector window appears.

  3. Open the folder containing the file you want, and then click Open.
  4. In the PCIDSK Import window, in the Destination file box, enter the path and file name of the file you want or, to select a file, click Browse.
Note: The output file must not already exist.
  5. In the Output format list, the only choice is PCIDSK. But you can click Options to specify file creation options for the destination file.
  6. In the Overview options list, select a downsampling option.
You can select from the following:
    • Nearest neighbor downsampling
    • Block averaged downsampling
    • Block mode downsampling
    • Disable overview
Note: Building overviews with Block averaged downsampling or Block mode downsampling selected can be significantly slower than with Nearest neighbor downsampling. If you are unsure of the nature of the raster, or if the speed of preparing the image overview is important, select Nearest neighbor downsampling.
  7. Click Import.

The file is imported to PCIDSK format.
