Image metadata support

CATALYST Professional includes support for image metadata; this support has been designed to accommodate the needs of hyperspectral processing and analysis. This support is currently limited to images stored in or linked to PCIDSK files (see Metadata input/output for details).

The metadata can refer to only one image stored in the PCIDSK file. We refer to an image (hyperspectral or otherwise) and its associated metadata as an image data set. Channels other than those containing image data set bands may exist in the PCIDSK file ( for example, containing ancillary raster data, or raster maps produced from image analysis), but the image metadata does not refer to these.

The programs comprising the Hyperspectral Analysis Package make extensive use of image metadata, and some of them modify the image metedata.
