Georeferencing

Map makers and mathematicians have devised numerous ways to project the image of the Earth (or other planets) on another (often planar) surface. Georeferencing refers to the manner in which data in a GDB file is related to positions in the real world or to locations in other data sets.

The raster layers in a database, including bitmap segments, have a single shared georeferencing definition, sometimes referred to as a georeferencing segment.
