Data product name and description
The ZY3-2 satellite carries a three-line camera array and a multispectral (MS) camera. The three-line panchromatic (PAN) camera array acquires stereoscopic imagery consisting of three telescopic cameras. The first is oriented to the nadir and the other two are each offset by 22 degrees forward and backward in the direction of flight. This stereo-mapping camera has a resolution of 2.1 meters for the nadir camera, and 2.6 meters for the offset cameras. The swath width is 51 kilometers. The multispectral imager for environmental and vegetation monitoring consists of a three-mirror telescope and a cooled detector system sensitive to four wavelength bands to capture full-color imagery and near-infrared (NIR) data. The ground resolution of this system is 5.8 meters.

ZY3-2 image data is available at one processing level: STANDARD. All products are provided with an XML metadata file specific to each. Each data set is either in its own directory or several data sets in one directory.
You can open a ZY3-2 data set by selecting the *.xml file.
When opening a ZY3-2 data set, the files read by GDB are as described in the following table.
Processing level | Horizontal accuracy (m) | Description/notes |
---|---|---|
STANDARD | N/A | N/A |
A ZY3-2 data set is organized in a specific folder structure on disk. GDB uses this folder structure and the file names to identify the data product type.
You can open a ZY3-2 data set by selecting the *.xml.
When opening a ZY3-2 data set, the files read by GDB are as described in the following table.
File name | Format | Required | Contents/details |
---|---|---|---|
*.xml | Extensible Markup Language | Yes | Key file name, contains data-set metadata |
*.tiff or *.tif | GeoTIFF | Yes | Image data |
*.rpc | ASCII | Yes | Rational-function model |
