Data product name and description

Name Description

Level 1B
(RE Basic)

RapidEye Basic Scene Product: Radiometric and sensor corrections applied to the data. On-board spacecraft attitude and ephemeris information applied to the data.

Level 2A
(RE Geocorrected)

RapidEye Geocorrected Product: Radiometric, sensor, and geometric corrections applied to the data, but no ground control points (GCPs) are used for positional accuracy. Images are map-projected (north-facing).

Level 3A
(RE Ortho)

RapidEye Ortho Tile Product: Radiometric, sensor, and geometric corrections applied to the data. All products have been rectified using a DTED Level 1 SRTM DEM or better, and with appropriate ground control, can meet an accuracy of 6 m 1-sigma (12.7 m CE90). The highest accuracy achieved by these products will meet 1:25,000 NMAS standards.

Level 3B
(RE Ortho)

RapidEye Area Based Ortho Product: Radiometric, sensor, and geometric corrections applied to the data. All products have been rectified using a DTED Level 1 SRTM DEM or better, and with appropriate ground control, can meet an accuracy of 25.0 m CE90 or better in areas where the maximum slope is less than 10 degrees.

Distribution disk files

File Format Contents
XML Main product annotation file in XML format. The metadata file contains additional information related to spacecraft attitude, spacecraft ephemeris, spacecraft temperature measurements, line imaging times, camera geometry, and radiometric calibration data.
GeoTIFF Image file for Level 2A, Level 3A, and Level 3B products, which contains image data and geolocation information.
NITF Image data file for Level 1B product. The image product is delivered as a group of single-band NITF 2.0 files with associated RPC values. Bands are co-registered.

Data product Data returned Details
All data products that are listed in the “Data product name and description" table 5 raster channels GDB retrieves all five spectral bands from NITF files in the Level 1B product, or from the GEOTIFF file in the Level 2A or Level 3A product. These five bands include:

Blue: 440 – 510 spectral bands (nm)
Green: 520 – 590 spectral bands (nm)
Red: 630 – 685 spectral bands (nm)
Red Edge: 690 – 730 spectral bands (nm)
NIR: 760 – 850 spectral bands (nm)

Geolocation data One ground control point (GCP) segment The Level 3A product is distributed with GCPs. These points are used in the creation of every image and the accuracy of the product. GDB retrieves these GCPs as a segment.
RPC data Rational Polynomial Coefficients (RPC) segment The Level 1B product is delivered with associated RPC values for each band. The RPC values can be used for advanced image processing. GDB retrieves this information as an RPC segment for each band.
Ephemeris data Orbit information in a binary segment GDB generates ephemeris data as an orbit segment based on metadata and projection information. This segment includes information about satellite position, satellite altitude, IFOV, projection, sensor, and orbit. The Level 1B product has no projection information in NITF files; GDB assigns the projection that is included in the XML metadata file.
