Data product name and description

By using an onboard multispectral imaging system, Kazakh Earth Imaging System (KEIS), KazEOSat-2 produces multispectral images (blue, green, red, red edge, and NIR) with a ground sample distance (GSD) of 6.5 meters and a swath width of 77 kilometers.

Note: The information provided herein is based on the data distributor's documentation cited under References.

Notes

B1 (Blue): 440 - 510
B2 (Green): 520 - 590
B3 (Red): 630 - 685
B4 (Red edge): 690 - 730
B5 (NIR): 760 - 900

6.5 Strip mode: Comprised of individual image 'scenes' that are 77 km by 77 km in size. The maximum length of an image strip is 4,000 km and it can be captured at roll angles of up to 35 degrees from nadir. The swath width is 16 km (nadir). Maximum length of an image strip is 4,000 km.

Stereo mode: Two fully overlapping image scenes are captured at pitch angles of 30 degrees.

Mosaic mode: Operates similarly to Stereo mode, except that the scenes imaged are adjacent and not fully overlapping.

Distribution disk files

A KazEOSat-2 data set is organized in a specific folder structure on disk. GDB uses this folder structure and the file names to identify the data product type.

Warning: Data sets for this sensor are organized in a specific folder structure on disk. GDB uses this structure and the file names to identify the data product type. Do not alter the folder structure or any file names prior to data ingestion to ensure the image data and auxiliary information are imported correctly.

You can open a KazEOSat-2 data set by selecting the DIMAP (.dim) file.

When opening a KazEOSat-2 data set, the files read by GDB are as described in the following table.

File name Format Required Contents/details
KM_xxx_L1G.dim DIMAP Yes Key file name. Use this file to open the data set.
KM_xxx_L1G.tif GeoTIFF Yes Image data, one file per spectral band.
KM_xxx_L1G.html HTML Optional Image data description in HTML format.
KM_xxx_L1G.tfw Text Optional TIFF world file. Contains information on geographic information systems.
KM_xxx_L1G_tn.jpg JPEG Optional Thumbnail file.
KM_xxx_L1G_ql.jpg JPEG Optional Quick-look file.
KM_xxx_L1G_meta.sip Specification file Optional N/A

Returned data for supported format

KazEOSat-2 data can be opened directly in its raw vendor format or imported into a PCIDSK (*.pix) file using the key file name (*_AUX.xml). For optimal processing, use the PCIDSK format.

The data structure, after it is opened by GDB, is as described in the following table.
