Parameter descriptions

Output Folder

The path and name of the folder to which to write the output files.

Merge Models

Select this check box to merge current results with existing geo-package file.

Geo-package File

The name of existing geo-package file contains models from previous run.

Overwrite Results

Select this check box to overwrite the existing output files, if any exist. If this check box is left clear, and an output file exists in the relevant folder, the status of the job displays a message informing you of the existence and name of the output file. The message is also written to the event log of the job.

Send Email

If necessary, you can set up CATALYST Enterprise to send an email notification on job start and job completion.

With this check box selected, an email message is sent to each address specified in the Email Addresses box after the job starts and on completion.

You can specify one or more addresses, and each must be separated by a comma or a semi-colon. The email address of the user currently logged in displays by default.

Platform Name

The name of the platform to include in the MODIS data for the model generation.

MDC43A4 Product Name

The name of the MODIS product containing the MCD43A4 measurements.

MDC43A2 Product Name

The name of the MODIS product containing the MCD43A2 measurements.

Upper-Left Latitude

Latitude of upper-left corner of target area.

Upper-Left Longitude

Longitude of upper-left corner of target area.

Lower-Right Latitude

Latitude of lower-right corner of target area.

Lower-Right Longitude

Longitude of lower-right corner of target area.

Polygon Vector File

File containing polygon layers of target area.

Start Date

Start date for the time-series MODIS data.

Format is YYYY-MM-DD.

End Date

End date for the time-series MODIS data. By default, the current date is picked up as input.

Format is YYYY-MM-DD.

Uncertainty Threshold

The MCD43A2 uncertainty upper limit for including an MCD43A4 reflectance measurement for the model generation process. The default value is 1000.

Valid Observation

A value, between 0 and 1, that determines if a pixel should be processed to generate a model. The default value is 0.25.

Details

General job details

Before running this module, the following requirements must be met to ensure the job processes successfully and produces accurate results:

Module details

MODIS Time-Series Model Generation module creates MODIS time-series models by following steps:

  • Based on user input, query ODC database get the MDC43A4 and MDC43A2 MODIS time-series data.
  • Based on user input, creates uncertainty mask to exclude high uncertainty measurements in the training process. this is to ensure the quality of time-series models is acceptable.
  • Generate time-series models that capture continuous change of MODIS time-series data.

Job results

For each set of input parameters, the MODIS Time-Series Model Generation module creates a geo package file contains time-series models. The output filename is based on the spatial extent and the temporal window. That is, Time_Series_Models_UL_[X,Y]_LR_[X,Y]_[StartDate]_[EndDate] with extension .gpkg.

The file can be used in MODIS Preparation module to improve the radiometric normalization.
