Canadian NAD 83/CSRS files

Although support is provided for the Canadian NAD 83/CSRS datums, not all datum grid-shift files are provided with CATALYST Professional, because some grid-shift files are proprietary. All the datums associated with these grid-shift files are selectable in CATALYST Professional. If the grid-shift file for the datum is not included in the installation, an error message is displayed indicating that the grid-shift file must be obtained and added to the installed CATALYST Professional software.

For information about obtaining the grid-shift data, go to the Natural Resources Canada website (nrcan.gc.ca), and then search Provincial Contacts. Alternatively, you can search Canadian Spatial Reference System, and then navigate to the provincial contacts.

Datum-definition file

You can find the datum.txt file in the $PROHOME/etc folder of your CATALYST Professional installation. The file contains the PCI datum codes defined for the Canadian grid-shift files, as follows:

Adding CATALYST Professional support for Canadian NAD 83/CSRS

If a grid-shift file is included with your CATALYST Professional installation, you can use it as is; no modifications are required.

If you want to use an external grid-shift file; that is, one not included with your installation, copy the file to the $PROHOME/etc or $USER/etc folder. Doing so activates the datum for the grid-shift file.

Note: The name of the grid-shift file must be the same as the relevant entry in the datum.txt file.
