Data product name and description

EPICHyper 1, 2 and 3 (also known as Dragonette by Wyvern Inc.) are 6U satellites designed and manufactured by AAC Clyde Space, providing Hyperspectral Imaging to Wyvern Inc. for agricultural and environmental monitoring. The final satellite in the constellation, EPICHyper-3, was launched on 11 November 2023.

The hyperspectral imaging sensor on each Dragonette satellite collects electro-optical imagery with dozens of narrow contiguous spectral bands covering the visible and near infrared (VNIR) wavelengths at a spatial resolution of approximately 5.3 m ground sample distance (GSD).

Note: The information provided herein is based on the data distributor's documentation cited under References.

Spectral bands:
Spectral range (nm)

Spatial resolution (m)*
(spectral resolution)

Swath width (at nadir)

Notes

VNIR: 500 - 800
VNIR: 445 - 880

5.3 x 5.3 20km x 20km

* Resolution is always nadir position unless noted otherwise.

The Dragonette product types tested and supported by Catalyst software are described in the following table.

Product level Horizontal accuracy (m) Description/notes
L1B N/A Wyvern's hyperspectral imagery data products are delivered in Level-1B (basic) processing level which are both geometrically corrected via georeferencing to map projected north-up Geographic WGS84 (EPSG:4326) coordinate system and radiometrically corrected to at-sensor top-of-atmosphere (TOA) radiance pixel units.

Scenes are provided in GeoTIFF format.

Distribution disk files

Dragonette data sets are organized in a specific folder structure on disk. GDB uses this folder structure and the file names to identify the data product. Therefore, to preserve compatibility with GDB, do not alter the folder structure and file names when copying and decompressing the data.

You can open a Dragonette data set by selecting the wyvern_dragonette-*.json file.

When opening a Dragonette data set, the files read by GDB are as described in the following table.

File name Format Required Contents/details
wyvern_dragonette-*.json JSON Yes Key file name, contains data-set metadata
wyvern_dragonette-*.tiff GeoTIFF Yes Image data

Returned data for supported format

Dragonette data can be opened directly in its raw vendor format or imported into a PCIDSK (*.pix) file using the key file name. For optimal processing, use the PCIDSK format.

The following table describes the data structure after it is opened by GDB.

Data product Data returned Details
