Data product name and description

The CBERS-4A satellite carries four cameras:
  • Wide Scan Multispectral and Panchromatic Camera (WPM)
  • Multispectral Camera (MUX)
  • Wide Field Imaging Camera(WFI)
  • Data Image Transmitter (DTS) for MUX cameras, WFI and WPM
  • Digital Data Recorder (DDR)
  • Data Collection System (DCS)
  • Space Environment Monitor (SEM)

Currently GDB only support Wide Scan Multispectral and Panchromatic Camera (WPM).

Note: The information provided herein is based on the data distributor's documentation cited under References.

L4 Orthorectified with ground control points Data is not available on PCI data server

Only Level L2B image data is available and supported.

Distribution disk files

Warning: Data sets for this sensor are organized in a specific folder structure on disk. GDB uses this structure and the file names to identify the data product type. Do not alter the folder structure or any file names prior to data ingestion to ensure the image data and auxiliary information are imported correctly.

You can open a CBERS-4A data set, by selecting the CB04A_WPM_*-MSS.xml file or the CB04A_WPM_*-PAN.xml file.

When opening a CBERS-4A WPM dataset, the files read by GDB are described in the following table.

MUXCam

File name Format Required Contents/details
*-MSS.xml Extensible Markup Language Yes Key file, contains data set metadata
*_thumb.jpg JPEG Optional Thumbnail image.
*.tiff GeoTIFF Yes Image data

Returned data for supported format

CBERS-4A data can be opened directly in its raw vendor format or imported into a PCIDSK (*.pix) file by using the key file name. For optimal processing, use the PCIDSK format.

The data structure, after it is opened by GDB, is as described in the following table.

Data product Data returned Details
CBERS-4A (WPM) 2 m PAN

1 x [16U] raster channel

1 x [ORB] orbit segment
1 x [TEX] main product annotation

PAN band.
CBERS-4A (WPM) 8 m MS

4 x [16U] raster channels

1 x [ORB] orbit segment
1 x [TEX] main product annotation

Blue, green, red, NIR bands.
